Restaurant Review

4 Apr

I had a hankering to over eat so we headed to Sushi Palace on Central Ave in Yonkers.
The website gave us pretty much no information about what to expect, and the Yelp reviews were really un-even so I had low expectations.

The restaurant is located in a fairly ugly strip mall. We were able to park easily.

We were greeted at the door and shown to a booth. The waiter explained how it works.

There are 2 sheets of paper with checkboxes. 1 paper for sushi, 1 paper for kitchen items. Its all you can eat.

We ordered shumai, gyoza, edamame, udon, grilled squid and miso soup from the kitchen. For the sushi bar we ordered a dragon roll, spicy tuna roll, tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, eel nigiri, tamago nigiri.

While you wait, there is a very small area where you can put together a plate of food to be cooked on the hibachi (mixed veg, noodles, rice, egg, beef, chicken). There is also a tiny salad bar.

My overall review. All of the kitchen food was great. Everything was likely pre-frozen and was good. The nigiri was fairly awful. The quality of the fish was fine, but the amount of fish is small — probably because people over-order. The rolls were good, especially the dragon roll. I did like the fact that its not a buffet of sushi. You order the food like you do in any restaurant and they bring it to you on a plate.

The service was good and the space is nice and clean.

The cost for an adult on a weeknight was $20 and kids $10 each.
